Community Outreach / Charitable Contributions

St. Anne’s Credit Union is very active in the communities in which it serves and provides support in a number of different ways – not only through monetary donations but employee volunteerism. Founded on the philosophy “People Helping People”, our institution has maintained its original commitment, keeping the compassion we have for our community at the very heart of St. Anne’s. We’re a local financial institution focused on giving back, reinforcing our motto, “We’re Making a Difference”, every single day.

Types Of Outreach / Charitable Opportunities Available

Financial Literacy

St. Anne’s Credit Union is committed to playing an active role in our community and that includes partnering with local schools and organizations to bring financial literacy to students, teaching them the value of saving and investing as future leaders of our society. We recognize that financial education isn’t only necessary for the classroom but for all stages of life. We strive to provide financial education programs for all ages - teaching students and parents how to develop personal financial decision-making skills and to secure financial freedom. We partner with outside organizations, including area high schools, transition academies, junior high schools, summer work programs, and other community organizations, to provide financial literacy education to all members of the community.

What We Offer For In-Class Learning

  • SCHOOL VISITS

Employees visit elementary and middle school classrooms to teach students smart ways to spend, save, and donate. Students learn the basics of budgeting through smart spending and saving activities and how to create saving goals and new habits. School visit programs are customizable for various ages to help students increase their money-management skills as they mature.

  • CREDIT FOR LIFE FAIRS

Credit for Life Fairs are interactive exercises where students learn the basics of budgeting and managing credit through a unique hands-on experience. St. Anne’s employees volunteer throughout the year in local area schools to help students:

  • Achieve financial independence

  • Learn about budgeting/saving

  • Explore other financial alternatives (obtain the same objective using different mechanisms)
    St. Anne’s Credit Union can:

  • Deliver financial expertise (provide best practices)

  • Reinforce lessons plans

  • Collaborate with teachers

  • Tailor material around current teachings

  • JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT (JA) TITAN BUSINESS CHALLENGE

St. Anne’s employees volunteer as “business mentors” where multiple area high school students compete for a scholarship. Students learn the fundamentals of business and are taught about the nuances of running a global business in a competitive high-tech marketplace.

Scholarship Programs

St. Anne’s is committed to the future of the youth in the local SouthCoast community. Since 1995 the St. Anne’s Scholarship Program has awarded more than $300,000 to local students, offering a total of twelve $1,000 cash scholarships to graduating high school seniors each year. Massachusetts and Rhode Island communities are eligible to receive 11 scholarships in the Credit Union’s service area. The remaining scholarship, the Alfred A. Dube Memorial Scholarship, is awarded to a graduating senior from B.M.C. Durfee High School. St. Anne’s also participates in CCUA’s Student Essay Contest, a statewide contest that awards cash prizes to seventh and eighth-grade students.
